Ochil Astronautics Selected for UK Government Mission to Commercial Space Week
Scottish space AgTech firm joins Department for Business and Trade mission to Florida.
25th January 2026 – Ochil Astronautics, the pioneering Scottish space AgTech company developing advanced agricultural systems for sustained human space operations, has been selected to join the Department for Business and Trade’s official UK mission to Commercial Space Week (CSW) 2026, taking place from 26–30 January in Orlando, Florida.
The prestigious invitation places Ochil Astronautics among a curated group of high-potential UK space companies showcasing innovation on the global stage at one of the world’s most influential commercial space industry gatherings. The selection highlights growing international interest in UK and Scottish technologies supporting long-duration space missions and space-enabled life-support systems.
During the week-long mission, the Ochil Astronautics team will take part in targeted pitching and networking sessions with major commercial space organisations including Vast, Max Space, and other leaders across the global space ecosystem. The programme also includes visits to Florida’s Space Coast, encompassing NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
Commercial Space Week is the premier global forum bringing together leaders from government, military, and commercial space sectors to shape the future of space commerce.
Anchored by SpaceCom, alongside the Space Mobility Conference and GSA Spaceport Summit, CSW 2026 is expected to attract more than 5,000 attendees, 250 exhibitors, and representatives from over 30 countries, with more than 100 sessions focused on strategy, collaboration, and innovation.
“As a company committed to solving critical challenges around food production and sustainability for long-duration human spaceflight, this mission is a tremendous opportunity,” said Stuart Preston, Founder of Ochil Astronautics. “Commercial Space Week brings together the organisations actively investing in the next generation of space infrastructure, and we’re excited to engage directly with partners who can help accelerate the deployment of our technologies.”
“We’re also proud to represent Scotland’s thriving space sector on an international stage,” Preston added. “Scotland has become a centre of excellence for small satellites and space innovation, and missions like this demonstrate the growing global impact of companies based here.”
Scotland’s space industry is one of the fastest-growing in the UK, with sustained year-on-year growth in both organisations and employment. The sector has set ambitions to contribute £4 billion to the Scottish economy by 2030, with Scotland building more small satellites than anywhere else in Europe and hosting a significant share of the UK’s space workforce.
Ochil Astronautics’ participation in Commercial Space Week 2026 follows a series of recent milestones, including involvement in leading UK innovation programmes and international showcases.
Outcomes from the mission are expected to support new international partnerships, pilot projects, and commercial discussions as the company continues to scale its technology and expand its global presence within the commercial space economy.
